Portfield Special School (Band B)

Funded by the Welsh Government through it's Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme and Pembrokeshire County Council, the redevelopment of Portfield school will include the replacement of the current 'lower school' building and refurbishment of the school's sixth form centre. A new children's residential centre will also be included along with a refurbishment of the adjacent Holly House respite centre. The project is due for completion in the Spring of 2026. 

Recent events

Turf cutting ceremony - 29th July 204

A celebration 'turf-cutting' event was held on the site of the new school in Haverfordwest on Monday 29th July to mark the formal start of construction works. The event was hosted by Morgan Sindall Construction and attended by the school headteacher, governors, council members, senior officers and officers from the project team.

Construction contract start date - 22nd July 2024

Construction has officially begun on the Portfield School building project. 

Client engagement meetings - May 2023 to February 2024 

Bi-weekly client engagement meetings are undertaken with the contractors, design teams, Pembrokeshire County Council construction and education teams and the school senior leadership team. 

Pre-construction phase awarded - 2023

The contract for the pre-construction phase of the project was awarded to Morgan Sindall.
