Careers in social care

Do you want a worthwhile job and a rewarding career?

When you work in social care you can go home at the end of every day knowing you’ve made a positive difference to someone’s life.

Whether you wish to work with older people, people with disabilities or children and young adults who need support in their everyday lives; you could find a job that gives immense pride and job satisfaction.

There are career opportunities for people of different ages; from those starting out on a career to those looking to completely change career direction.

For information on the many roles in social care go to We Care Wales (opens in new tab)

You don’t necessarily need any qualifications or previous work experience to get a job in social care - though some employers prefer experienced and qualified staff - what’s really important is your values and attitude towards the people who need care and support.

You will be expected to update your knowledge, skills and competence regularly and you will be encouraged to gain a Level 2 or Level 3 diploma while working.
