School Admissions
School admissions
We recommend that you contact the school you would like your child to attend before you submit an application. Contacting the school and speaking to the teachers is a great way of knowing if you are making the right choice for you and your child.
Remember that even if you have spoken to a school and they have said there are places available, until you have made an application and had confirmation from us that your child has been accepted they cannot start school.
We only accept applications for schools in Pembrokeshire, if you are applying to a school in another County please contact them directly.
Applications for places in voluntary aided church schools must be made online using the Council's website. However, decisions in relation to admission are made by the admissions committee of the governing body of the appropriate school
At the age of 4 years old your child is eligible to attend primary school full time. You do not have to send your children to school until they are 5 years old but many parents find this early start beneficial.
At the age of 11 your child will move to Secondary school. Unless your child attends a 3-16 or 3-19 school, you must make an application for the Secondary School of your choice. There is no automatic transfer from a primary to a secondary school. When your child is in the last year of primary school, you will receive a notification during the Autumn term with information on all Secondary schools in the county and how to apply. Subject to parental preference, pupils in the last year of the primary phase of 3-16 or 3-19 schools will transfer automatically to the secondary element.
