Complaints about workplaces and work activities

Which complaints do we investigate?

The Authority recognises that it is neither possible nor necessary for the purpose of the Health & Safety At Work, etc. Act 1974, to formally address all issues of non-compliance with the law. To maintain a proportionate response the criteria for selecting complaints for investigation shall necessarily target more serious matters, so as not to distort the overall balance of resource between preventative and reactive work.

In selecting which complaints to investigate and in deciding the level of resources to be used, the Council will have regard to the factors stipulated in the enforcement policy - Health and Safety Enforcement Policy.
