Safeguarding

Looking after children and vulnerable people

It is essential that young people and vulnerable adults participating in projects are protected and in a safe environment.

There is a legal duty and responsibility for organisers and management committeesto safeguard children, young adults and vulnerable older people; to ensure that practices promoting safety are in place and to support workers and volunteers to implement relevant procedures.

The Council and funders will require projects to have safeguarding and protection policies. These policies will show that consideration has been given to how children and adults could potentially come to harm being involved in your project and that there are measures in place to protect them.
