What is a Traffic Regulation Order?

A Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) is a legal document which we can introduce for the purpose of managing or restricting traffic on public roads.

TROs are required for:

• Parking places
• Waiting, loading and unloading bays
• Double yellow lines
• One way streets
• Turning bans
• Speed limits
• Prohibition of vehicles
• Vehicle weight restrictions
• Bus and cycle lanes
• Taxi ranks

We have a statutory duty to formally advertise our intention to make a new Traffic Regulation Order (TRO). The TROs listed below are currently out for consultation. Please view the documents and submit any feedback on the form provided, quoting the reference number.
