New Licensing Regime for Special Procedures
As of 29th November 2024, all practitioners and establishments must comply with the New Welsh Regulations to ensure public safety and uphold professional standards.
All premises and practitioners offering a special procedure as defined by Public Health (Wales) Act 2017 (opens in a new tab)
- Acupuncure
- Body Piercing
- Electrolysis
- Tattotting (includng semi-permanent makeup / microblading)
will require a licence, the licensing regieme replaces the current registration scheme.
There will be transitional arrangements for any current registrations.

Practitioner qualifications
All practitioners must possess relevant qualifications and demonstrate competency.
Client consent
Ensure that proper consent forms are obtained from clients prior to any procedure. This protects both your business and the client.
Regular inspections
