Personal Assistant

The Direct Payments Recipient (The Direct Payments Recipient is the employer and they hold all the employer’s responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations).

Introduction:

Are you an outgoing person who would enjoy supporting this dynamic woman to remain independent in her own home. As part of your role you will provide the physical support this lady needs to live an independent life by supporting this lady to get changed and prepare food food, cook and make hot drinks. Some assistance is required to enable this lady to remain safe and provide assistance when this lady is unwell. The hours offered are split over Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 30 minutes per day at lunch time. 

This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable this lady to live independently by employing a personal assistant.

The main duties to be included within this role are:

  • Providing support in the home to make lunch and hot drinks. Prompting independence skills is very important.
  • Provide support with dressing when needed
  • Provide companionship; get to know this woman’s likes, and dislikes.
  • Ensuring the lady’s safety at all times during your visit.
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working time.
  • Be responsible for contacting the emergency services, GP, Social Worker should this lady need medical assistance

The client is looking for a personal assistant that fits the following person specification:

  • Caring and patient
  • Responsible and honest
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Has good local knowledge
  • Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties
  • Good communicator
  • Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship

Other requirements:

A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.

You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.

Benefits:

5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata)

Sick pay at SSP rate

Training provided, if required.
