Personal Assistant

Reporting to:
The Direct Payment recipient and her parents. A Direct Payments client in Pembrokeshire is looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support them with their care needs. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently. The right candidate will have both contact details.
Job Description:
We are looking for a personal assistant to offer more frequent personal time for our daughter. We are looking for someone who drives and has enough space for a wheelchair. She’s 9 years old and has very little vision, is a bundle of joy to be around, she will make you laugh and have you in stitches every time. Due to the nature of this role, we are recruiting a female PA only, you will need to be familiar with disabilities (cerebral palsy) and experience with epilepsy (desirable and medication for seizures also desirable but training can be provided), this aside, she is one outspoken and strong little girl and you will instantly fall in love with her witty attitude.
The main duties to be included in this role are:
- Changing (if needed) and maintaining her personal hygiene.
- Keep her safe and ensure you manage a safe environment at all times.
- Pushing a wheelchair at the chosen place of visit
- Assisting walking (if needed)
The client is looking for a personal assistant who fits the following person specification:
- Caring and very patient
- Responsible and honest is a must!
- Understanding cerebral palsy
- Understanding and willingness to attend to personal accidents.
- Good timekeeping and flexibility around parents' working patterns and duties
- Great communicator
- Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship with our daughter
- Have boot space for a wheelchair (medium size)
- Have patience
Other Requirements:
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car are required.
You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
Must have enough space for a wheelchair.
Benefits:
5.6 weeks' holiday per year (pro rata)
Sick pay at SSP rate
Training is provided if required.

- This is a great opportunity for a female PA to meet an outgoing and very strong individual who will have you laughing so hard each and every time you're out,
- A first aid kit and medication will be to hand on every outing
- A risk assessment will also be completed as standard, as my daughter does and will lose balance without warning.
- The right candidate will have all relevant information on my daughter's history to better help understand her circumstances.
