How to pay your Council Tax
Set up or amend a Council Tax Direct Debit
The easiest and safest way to pay council tax is by Direct Debit.
Before you set up your Direct Debit you will need to sign up for My Account
Then just follow these simple steps:
Step one: Use this link to access the Direct Debit set up: Pay by Direct Debit
Step two: Choose ‘View Direct Debit Services’ and then choose – ‘Set up new Direct Debit’ from the drop down
You will need the following items before you start:
- Your Council Tax billing reference number
- Your bank account number and sort code (you must be the holder of the bank account and authorised to set up a Direct Debit)
You can choose, from a selection of dates when you would like the payment to be made each month (8th, 15th, 22nd and 28th) and decide whether to spread the payment over 10 or 12 months
Please note that should you change your direct debit payment date in the future, your council tax instalments will be recalculated and they may increase as you may have less instalments during the financial year as a result of the change. This is because we need to give you 14 days’ notice of any change to your instalments. Should you change your direct debit payment date a new council tax demand will be issued which will confirm the revised instalments.
