Revocation of Air Quality Management Areas
- Haverfordwest and Pembroke
About the Consultation
Pembrokeshire County Council monitors air quality to protect public health. In 2012, certain streets in Haverfordwest and Pembroke were identified as areas where air pollution, mainly from traffic, could exceed national limits. These areas were designated as Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) to help improve air quality through targeted measures and careful planning.
Ongoing monitoring shows that air quality in these areas has improved and meets national standards. Levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) have stayed consistently low, thanks to factors like smoother traffic flow and cleaner vehicles.
Because of this sustained improvement, the Council is proposing to revoke the AQMA designations for Haverfordwest and Pembroke. Monitoring will continue to make sure air quality remains good.
