Switch to paperless Council Tax billing

Switching to paperless billing is an easy way to manage your Council Tax. It makes it simpler to keep track of your bills and is better for the environment.

Benefits of paperless billing:

  • easy access to all documents in one place, at any time
  • no paper to file and store
  • reduces paper waste

When you switch, we’ll email you each time a new bill or reminder is ready to view.

Before you start

To switch to paperless billing, you’ll need to:

  • have a My Account profile
  • link your Council Tax account to My Account

If you have not linked your account yet, you can do this from the My Council Tax widget on your My Account homepage. You’ll need:

  • the first seven digits of your Council Tax account or payment reference number (found on your paper bill)
  • your postcode
  • your latest online reference number (found on your most recent Council Tax bill or recovery notice)

Enter these details when prompted and select Submit. Your account will then be linked.

 

How to switch to paperless billing

  1. Sign in to My Account.
  2. On the homepage, select Manage Council Tax Account.
    • You can do this using either the Council Tax widget or the Council Tax & Bills menu on the left-hand side.
  3. Select Paperless billing details.
  4. Enter the email address you’d like us to use for your paperless bills.
  5. Choose Submit.

You will see an on-screen message confirming that your request has been successful. We will also send a confirmation email to the address you provided.

 

After you switch

  • We’ll email you whenever a new Council Tax bill or reminder is available to view.
  • You can view all your bills and notices at any time in your online Council Tax account.
