Promotion Standards

• The promotion standards require the Council to produce, and publish on our website, a 5-year strategy that sets out how we will promote the Welsh language and facilitate the use of the Welsh language. 2025-26 is the final year of the current strategy.
• The Council sets out objectives and action points in relation to the development of the Welsh Language in the county in its Welsh Language Strategy 2021–26 and the Welsh in Education Strategic Plan 2022-31.  The next 5-year strategy will run from 2026-2031 and work has commenced on developing this as part of the work of the Welsh Language Strategy Delivery Group. Collation of national and local supporting data/statistics is already underway including end of year figures. A workplan has been discussed. Further scheduled work includes a review of the current plan, consultation with stakeholders including Pembrokeshire Language Forum and Pembrokeshire residents, scrutiny via our democratic processes for approval for adoption and publication on our corporate website. The Welsh Language Commissioners best practice guidance will be used to support and shape the Strategy.
