Welsh language Standards Annual Report 2024-25

Monitoring

  • The senior officer responsible for the implementation of the Welsh Language Standards within Pembrokeshire County Council is the Director for Education. He is supported in this work by the Welsh Language Strategy Delivery Group, which comprises officers whose remits relate to the delivery of objectives within the strategy, compliance matters, development work and sharing of good practice. The group meets quarterly and the Director for Education reports to other senior officers and Cabinet members, as part of his membership of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Our Programme for Administration is arranged around the portfolios of the Cabinet members which includes a Cabinet Member for Education and the Welsh Language and two Welsh Language Champions.
  • Within our Corporate Strategy 2025-30, developed in line with the Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, actions relating to the Welsh language are to:
    • Develop and produce a new Welsh Language Strategy by 2026, with the involvement of all key stakeholders.
    • Support and promote the use of Welsh as a first language, including implementing the Welsh in Education Strategic Plan and hosting the National Eisteddfod in 2026.
  • Progress against our Corporate Strategy 2025-30 is reported through our annual self-assessment report which is approved by Council each autumn. This annual report supports and contributes to that assessment process.
