Welsh Language Commissioner

• The authority maintains a good working relationship with the Welsh Language Commissioners Office, working closely with Compliance Officers from the office who provide advice and guidance on compliance matters.
• The Commissioner continues to run an annual Promoting Compliance Programme (opens in a new tab) focussing on specific themes/standards which examines arrangements organisations have in place to meet standards, identifies good practice and shortcomings, and offers recommendations for improvement.
• Focus areas in 2025-26 have included how organisations manage complaints related to the Welsh language, social media and quarterly monitoring surveys have focussed on specific web pages. We have responded to the monitoring and thematic report recommendations and a number of practical steps have been taken to meet them. The 2026-27 programme commences with a Welsh in the Workplace Forum scheduled in May 2026.
