Welsh Language Standards Annual Report 2025-26
Service Delivery Standards
- The Council has responsibility for delivering local government services for residents, businesses, and visitors. Services include schools, waste and recycling, social care and housing, public protection, and area maintenance etc. We also commission goods and services from external service providers.
- Our employees currently work within the following directorates under the Chief Executive: Assistant Chief Executive and Place; Resources; Social Services, Housing and Public Protection; and Education. Staff work across a range of locations, including offices, depots, libraries, leisure centres, and County Hall in Haverfordwest. Office-based staff split their time between workplaces and home as part of hybrid working.
- The Welsh Language Standards are embedded in our Communications Standards, Services & Resources Guidelines for Employees whichare supplemented by fact sheets and Supplementary Guidance for Mangers and Senior Officers including the provision of education courses to the public, the awarding of grants and procurement of goods and services.
- An action plan “Delivering the actions in the More Than Just Words Plan 2022-27” is in place that aims to support staff to deliver the “active offer” to provide care services through the medium of Welsh and is monitored annually by Social Services. The aim of “More than Just Words” is to ensure that language is an integral aspect of the quality of care, not an “add-on.”
