Welsh Language Standards Annual Report 2025-26
Conclusion
- The report reflects the Council’s ongoing commitment to the promotion and provision of Welsh language services and opportunities to use the Welsh Language for its staff, members of the public and stakeholders.
- The annual report demonstrates that progress and improvements are being made but there are also improvements required to be made in specific areas, with work already in progress or scheduled to take place in 2026-27. Key actions and activities are detailed for 2026-27.
- We are committed to making these improvements and areas identified as requiring attention will be addressed. The Welsh Language Commissioners Promoting Compliance Programme has supported us to do this through ongoing monitoring and thematic reporting which will continue in 2026-27.
- Our achievements in 2025-26 and actions planned for 2026-27 will help us to ensure that we comply with the standards, support and progress our Welsh Language Strategies and Plans, and contribute towards the Welsh Governments ambition to see the number of people able to enjoy speaking and using Welsh reach a million by 2050 (Cymraeg 2050: A million Welsh speakers).
- The Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Committee will consider the annual report in June prior to approval by Cabinet (6 July).
