Disability confident

Pembrokeshire County Council is committed to achieving a diverse and dynamic working environment, harnessing individual talents and skills. By embarking on the Disability Confident journey, we aim to maximise our inclusive working environment and reap the rewards that this approach can bring. The Disability Confident scheme supports employers to make the most of the talents disabled people can bring to your workplace. Through Disability Confident, thousands of employers are:

challenging attitudes towards disability

increasing understanding of disability

removing barriers to disabled people and those with long-term health conditions

ensuring that disabled people have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations.

Time to change Wales

Time to Change Wales encourages us all to take the time to think and talk about mental health with the aim of changing the way society thinks and acts about mental health problems. The Council signed the Time to Change Pledge in Autumn 2017, and is committed to supporting the mental health of staff, and de-stigmatising mental health problems.

PCC has a network of champions. Time to Change Champions are a movement of people across the country who use their own experience of mental health problems to change the way we all think and act about mental health. Being a Time to Change Champion is above all about safely living the values that we would like to see change in society, including trying to be more honest about how we feel, sharing our experiences to help people open up to mental health, and speaking up when stereotypes or misinformation are used.

Armed Forces Covenant

Through tailored policies and initiatives, the Council ensures equitable access to services and support for veterans, serving personnel, and their families. This commitment extends across various areas, including employment, housing, healthcare, and education, aiming to eliminate disadvantage and promote integration within the community. The Council actively engages with local armed forces units, veterans' organisations, and charities to identify and address specific needs and challenges faced by the military community. By fostering partnerships and promoting awareness, Pembrokeshire County Council strives to honour the covenant's principles of fairness and respect, ensuring that those who serve or have served in the armed forces are valued and supported as integral members of the community they protect.
